In my bachelor's thesis, I tested whether AI-based motion capture can keep up with traditional inertial systems or perhaps even replace them. I tested three systems: “Move AI” (cell phone camera), “Rokoko Vision” (webcams) and the “Smartsuit Pro I” (sensor suit). The tests covered five scenarios - from fluid movements and fast actions to concealment and bulky clothing. The aim was to compare the strengths and weaknesses of the systems under realistic conditions.

Motion Capture

AI systems such as “Move AI” are super practical and easy to use, but still have weaknesses when it comes to complex movements and occlusions. The Smartsuit scores with precision, but requires more setup. The tests show: Both approaches have potential depending on the application, the right mix of simplicity and precision is crucial.
